Best shorts for all body shapes

As summer is slowly going, it's time to buy your last pair of shorts to enjoy the last few days of sun. Here are six different types of shorts for all six body shapes: Straight, Pear, Hourglass, Inverted Triangle, Oval and Diamond. See which type of shorts you like and start shopping!!

Note: If you don’t know your body type, use this online shape calculator (insert your bust, waist and hip measurements in inches or cm)

Straight body shape

Hotpants from Missguided
The best feature on a straight body shape are your legs. To enhance this feature, wearing hot pant shorts will help give your legs length so you look taller. There are a variety of different types of hot pants that the straight body type can pull off. You have denim hot pants, disco hot pants or high waist hot pants. Denim hot pants are the most popular so I'm going to tell you a few styles with denim hot pants. With denim you can style it with anything you like, crop tops, blouses, t-shirts, baggy t-shirts and even jumpers if there's a chill in the evening. For the straight body shape, a crop top would look great with a pair of denim hot pants, paired with either boots if you want to look more of a urban or masculine feel or wear a pair of gladiator sandals if your hitting the beach or shops for the day.

Pear body shape

Denim Shorts from Missguided

There are so many denim shorts that are being sold in high street stores so why not go for something unusual that will go with anything. Acid wash denim shorts are a great statement that can be worn by the pear body shape with any coloured top or blouse. Add a pair of trainers and you have a casual sports look. If you don't fancy acid wash how about some print shorts, floral, block colour or even just a pair of bright coloured shorts to make your statement. No-one could miss you in the crowd with bright yellow, green, pink, blue, purple or orange shorts matched with a plain crop top and some gladiator sandals. Two great summer styles for denim shorts.

Hourglass body shape

Leather Shorts from Missguided
Even though summer is hot, a pair of leather shorts with a nice white crop top or blouse would create a great urban look for the hourglass body shape. It's an amazing look but it is all the range. Even when summer is over, leather shorts could be worn in the winter when you're heading out and about in the evening. Match your leather shorts with white to give you a monochrome style this summer. If you fancy something more rock chic, add boots, a baggy t-shirt and a hat to give you a diverse look.

Inverted Triangle body shape

High waist shorts from Missguided

High waisted shorts have been in fashion for years and this summer is no exception. For the inverted triangle body shape this will help to define your waist more and take your eyes off your broad shoulders. By matching the shorts with sleeveless tops and tank tops this will help to reduce your broad shoulders and focus more on your waist. There’s a variety of different types of high waisted denim shorts in different colours and patterns so team your shorts with your favour tops and shoes to create a great summer look.

Oval body shape

Floral Shorts from Missguided
For the oval body shape, flappy or loose shorts can help hide the lumps and bumps you don't like and bring out your confidence. These shorts are very comfortable as they are lose on your body so they won't hug your body too much except the waist band. The waistband can help to enhance your waist, add a belt and you can make your waist the main feature of your look. With the shorts add a fitted yet comfortable blouse that can be tucked into the shorts to complete the look. This look is ready for summer, day or night.

Diamond body shape

Denim short Dungarees from Missguided
As a diamond body shape your best features are your arms. We all remember wearing dungarees back in the 90's but now they have made a massive comeback and are more fashionable than ever. Dungarees can have a childish look to them but with the right style and look you can make it look casual chic. Short dungarees are a much better look than the long style dungarees. With the short style, pair it with a tank top or a sleeveless blouse to show off your best feature which is your arms. Add colour to the outfit by wearing a bright coloured tank top with the dungarees along with some flip flops or sandals so you can hit the beach or go out for the day. If you feel that you want to cover up more, pair the dungarees with a t-shirt that makes you feel more comfortable along with a statement necklace and some flats so that you don't look too childish in the dungarees but much more casual chic.

How to wear a bodysuit

Well ladies… The bodysuits are back! You probably remember them from your mother’s wardrobe from the late 80’s or early 90’s, but in fact the good old bodysuit is back in style!

If you’re not familiar with them, you probably are wondering: Is it a one-piece bathing suit? A girdle? A leotard? Nope… a bodysuit can remind a bit of any of those, but is actually a fashionable and stylish wearable piece that can be very versatile. Just like any other fitted top.

Bodysuits left the Spring 2012 catwalks straight to most high street retail stores and they are not as difficult to style as it may seem. They can look stunning in skirts, trousers, shorts and they’re the perfect piece to “tuck in”.

We noticed that some of you are struggling on how to style them, so below, our fashion stylists will give you some ideas on how to wear a bodysuit. The below examples are related to skirts but please keep in mind that you can also pull them off with trousers and shorts:
Outfit 1 (stylist: Ria Johnson)- White Bodysuit, BOOHOO, £4 (SALE) | Skater Skirt, BOOHOO, £12 (SALE) | Sandals, CARVELA, £149 | Pink Clutch, MONSOON, £35 | Leather Cuff, ACCESSORIZE, £12 | Earrings, BOOHOO, £5

But do let us know your thoughts on this. Will you embrace the bodysuit trend?

Shop for the perfect dress for your body shape

Bodycon, Skater, Peplum, Maxi, Midi and Mini. Dresses come in so many shapes and sizes that shopping for a dress that fits perfectly can be really time consuming and a real pain.

Frequently the search for the perfect dress ends in just wasting time, pure frustration or even worse a poor fit dress that will only walk around in the daylight once. Meaning that besides the whole frustration of getting that dress, you also wasted your money on something that doesn’t flatter you. Know the feeling?
Whether you’re looking in several retail stores or searching online, this task can be really hard to get done successfully. However, once you figure out your body shape, finding the perfect dress can be fun and can really take the stress out of your shoulders.

All women are different. We all have different tastes, styles, sizes, preferences and of course body shapes. If you still don’t know your shape, you can use this online body shape calculator and, through your measurements, you can have an idea on what to look for.

Please keep in mind that there are no good or bad shapes (we never get tired of mentioning this). Body shapes are just categories that aim to help women find the best clothes for them. Every shape is equally beautiful, you just have to figure out what works or doesn’t work for your figure. Embrace your shape and dress it wisely!

Pear body shape

Pear shapes are described as having their hips wider than their bust / shoulders with a really defined waist, which means that this figure naturally carries more weight in the hip zone.

Though this is the most common body type, we often see women struggling in finding dresses for this shape. But, let’s carefully look at this shape again: smaller bust and shoulders and wider hips. In other words, this means that you have to find a dress that shows off your smaller half (in this case the shoulders or bust area) while disguising your lower half, or one that adds volume to your bust/shoulders area while disguising your hips, but always enhancing your defined waist. You don’t want to look like you’re wearing a groceries bag.

The trick is to find a skater dress or a-line dress that disguises the hips without adding too much volume where you naturally already have it. Empire waist dresses will also look great on you. Here are some ideas on what kind of dresses you should be looking for:
Left to Right: French Connection; Fever; Monsoon

Inverted Triangle body shape

This body type is completely the opposite of the Pear shape, as it carries more weight on the upper half. This shape has a wider bust / shoulder area and the hips are generally smaller, meaning that the perfect dress for this shape will have to have more volume on the bottom half, disguising the upper half to visually create the right balance.

If you’re an inverted triangle shape you should be looking for dresses like skater dresses, full or a-line dresses or with details like flat pockets or embellishments on the hip zone. The upper halves of the dresses need to draw the attention away from the bust, defining your waist. To draw the attention away from that area choose narrow v-necklines, for example and darker colours. Please keep in mind that by darker and solid colours.  Wrap style dresses with narrow v-necks are perfect for this body type. Here are some examples:
Left to Right: Boohoo; Dorothy Perkins; Savoir

Straight body shape

Straight shapes are really balanced shapes that have bust and hips practically the same size. Their waist however, though it’s there, it isn’t as defined as the hourglass shape and that’s why they are called straight. Of course, though the name of the shape is straight doesn’t mean that you don’t have a waist… it just means that is not as defined as the hourglass figure shape.

The best way to find the perfect  dress for the straight shape is to look for dresses that emphasize your waist, whether with a belt or dresses with some structure and a defined waist. You can also look for dresses that add a bit volume to the bust/shoulders area and also in the hip zone, but always enhancing the waist. Another tip: You can also wear some shapeless (kind of “boxy”) dresses and pull them off by adding the perfect belt and accessories to it. Some dress ideas below:
Left to Right: French Connection; Koko; Exclusives

Hourglass body shape

Hourglass shapes are the lucky curvaceous ones. They are called hourglass because their shape resembles an hourglass, meaning that the shoulders/bust are as wide as the hips with a tiny waist. This was the shape of the iconic Marilyn Monroe and this is often the shape that most women wish they had. But, we never get tired of saying this, if you’re not an hourglass, don’t worry, there are lots of gorgeous women that don’t have this shape and they also have gorgeous bodies.

Back to the tips… well, there aren’t many tips that we can give to this already curvaceous shape, except that embrace your shape and show it off. Bodycon dresses, wrap style dresses and dresses with pencil skirts are the perfect choice for showing of your curves. Other type of dresses will also look great on you, but keep in mind this tip: when you add volume to your top half, balance it below in your lower half, as this body shape already has the perfect proportions and doesn’t need any visual tricks to add or remove volume.

Remember this: don’t hide your womanly curves behind “baggy” or “boxy” dresses… show them off! Here are some dresses that will look great on you:
Left to Right: So Fabulous; Missguided; French Connection

Oval body shape

Also called “apple” body type, the oval shape has a full tummy and a not so defined waist. The bust is wider than the hip zone and the legs are really slender.

To look stunning on a dress, the oval shaped woman should look for dresses that create a waist and disguise the midsection, while also giving some volume to the hips. Since your legs are slender, you will look great with mini dresses, but you can wear whatever length you feel comfortable with… an advice: for your best, shop for mini or midi dresses.

Aside from the length of the dress and back to structure: wrap style dresses with a-line skirts or empire waist dresses will look perfect on this body type and will help in disguising the midsection (tummy). Here are some examples of what you should be looking for:
Left to Right: Monsoon; French Connection; French Connection

Diamond body shape

This shape can be really hard to dress up and we understand that women with this shape can have lots of difficulty in finding the perfect dress from them.

The diamond shape has their hips wider than the bust zone and a full midsection (stomach area). Regarding the ratio between bust and hips, this body shape is similar to the pear shape, however the pear shape has a much defined waist and the diamond shape has a full midsection and doesn’t have a defined waist.

The challenge for this shape is to disguise the hip zone as well as creating a waist. The dresses that look best on this body shape are mainly empire waist dresses, with wide necklines (v or u) and details around the shoulders and bust area. You can also look for off the shoulder or one shoulder dresses, also with empire waists or high belted waists. Here are a few ideas on what will look perfect on the diamond body type:
Left to Right: Boohoo; Monsoon; Boohoo

Please note that, though these tips can be very important, these are just guidelines. Sometimes, when a body shape runs near more than one shape (eg: if you’re a pear tending to be hourglass, for example) it’s often that some tips from other shapes can also look good on your body type too. However, once you know the basics, it can really be much easier to find clothes for you.

And finally, remember this: it’s not about the size you wear it’s about the shape of your body.

But do tell us your experience on this. What is your shape and what kind of dresses do you love to wear?

Style your outfits with big and chunky necklaces

Big statement necklaces have been a trend for a long time and looks like they’re here to stay, so girls go out and find the right ones for you.

A statement necklace is an easy way of getting the trendy look fast and that will fit all your outfits for every event. No matter if it’s for work or cocktail party, this is a great accessory for your wardrobe. However, there are so many different necklaces that finding the right one can be hard. But once you find one that is perfect for you, you’ll see how it can style and revamp your outfit and style.

A big necklace can make your jeans pop out and, when styled with a more simple one color top, it can really look like you just step out of the runway and on to the streets, or can even make your jersey dress look as it cost a million pounds.

This Summer, the big chunky necklace is in gold or silver with neon color elements on it or multicolor necklace. This can help you if you want to follow the neon trend but don’t want it to be all neon and color.

If you’re wearing a v-neck top or low cut dress, then a necklace with rounds cuts is perfect to make a contrast and create a visual impact. A statement necklace that sits high up to the neck will show of your v-neck top cut.

On the other hand, if you’re wearing a round neck cut it’s best to use a statement necklace a bit longer and heavy at the bottom, so that you don't draw too much attention to the beginning of your neck or visually “cut” your neck right from the start. Besides, it will make your neck look longer and leaner.

When wearing a one shoulder or shoulder less top you can choose either of the mentioned above: a high up or a longer statement necklace. Choose the one according to where you want to draw the eye to.

Below, there are a couple of examples of necklaces that are great for your Summer outfits.

French Connection
Ribbon in color in bike chain design or ribbon braided into the chain is a great trend for this season and can bring color to your outfit without it being too much. When mixing chain and ribbon looks the colors become a cool, raw, mix.

New Look
What about a beaded necklace for the hot summer days? Since it’s multicolor it will look perfect on most outfits. You can make it really stand out if you wear a only black or white to it, or even monochrome. It’s a great statement for your style.
Boohoo
Or perhaps you prefer an urban style necklace. With a bit of a raw mix to it, with details like spikes. It will look cool and edgy styled with a simple top and a pair of shorts.

New Look
You can also go for a more classic style with a silver or gold more plain necklace. It will make a statement without it being too much nor too big. This is a style that you can wear to your every day office job or even with a more formal cocktail dress, for a special occasion.

Stylist tips: How to style yellow

Now that the sun has finally shown its beautiful rays (sometimes even too much)… it’s time to start looking at your wardrobe and thinking which pieces you have to match the gorgeous rays of light. If you don’t have any and need to shop for new clothes, we highly recommend yellow.

Yellow is a very hot colour this Season. Whether in a more neon or a more pale look, it’s definitely a must-have tone for this Summer. There are lots of yellow items in the high street catalogues. Whether in skirts, dresses, tops, trousers, to accessories like bags, clutches, jewellery, and even shoes. We love them all equally….

However, since yellow is such a bright, cheerful, tone, it can also give some headaches when it comes to styling. Which colours can you match it with? Can you wear it with neutral colours without it looking dull or boring?

To answer some of these questions, our fashion stylists put together some outfit ideas to help you go through your style dilemmas. If you have any other questions about style and styling, please ask our stylists in our facebook page (they’ll reply as soon as possible).

Outfit 1- Yellow Midi Dress, AX PARIS, £22 | Envelope Clutch, COLEEN, £27 | Gem Ring, ACCESSORIZE, £7 | Wedge Sandals, STEVE MADDEN, £92
Outfit 2- Sleeve Tee, BOOHOO, £8 | Necklace, MARTINE WESTER, £135 | Floral Print Skirt, VILA, £27 | Platform Heels, BOOHOO, £25 | Straw Bag, ANIMAL, £37
Outfit 3- Skater Dress, AX PARIS, £40 | Cross Front Heels, AX PARIS, £36.99 | Black Clutch, MISCHA BARTON, £39 | Golden Bracelet, ACCESSORIZE, £5
Outfit 4- Strapless Maxi Dress, AX PARIS, £28 | Gold Cruster Necklace, AX PARIS, £15 | Strappy Wedges, CLARKS, £79 | Bowler Bag, TED BAKER, £255

Colour Wheel: Mix & Match Yellow

If you need some extra help on how to pull off an outfit based on yellow, here are some extra tips on which colours match best.

The first thing you need to know when you’re trying to mix colours is that there’s something called the “color wheel” (see image below) that will help you figure out which colours match best with each other. This basically works like this:

Image from Wikipedia
  • The closer the colour is in the wheel, the easier is to match. These are called analogous colours.  In this case, yellow is right next to lemon-yellow and orange yellow, and you’ll find that these two tones are pretty easy to match with pure yellow. If you match in between (or near) those colours, you’ll be fine and it will look great.
  • Colours can be matched based on a complimentary theory. The opposite tone in the wheel is called complimentary. In this case it’s violet. So, violet is the complimentary colour of yellow.
  • Split complimentary. One colour plus the two colours on the other side. For yellow it’s the blue violet/blue and purple.

There are other forms of mix and matching tones. These “rules” apply not just to fashion, but to everything else. Please keep in mind that, like any other rules, they can be broken and they're just guidelines. These were just some simple tips on how to match yellow. If you want to know more about it, read this.

Have other tips on how to style yellow? Comment below, we’d love to know about them!

Style Weekend Tips for Straight, Inverted Triangle and Oval shapes

Here are some of my Summer weekend tips for Straight, Inverted Triangle and Oval body types. I go over the type of dresses, shorts / skirts and tops that I think you should be wearing this Summer to make you look and feel your best at the weekends.

Straight Body Shape

Midi Striped Dress from Boohoo. Styled by Sabrina Woolley for stylingup.com.

Dresses: Maxi dresses fit your body well and show your straight figure off. Midi dresses show your legs off beautifully and are the type of style that suit you. Skater style dresses can work for you but with not much of a waist this can sometimes cause problems so midi or skin fitting dresses are a much better look for your figure.

Shorts and Skirts: Bodycon skirts would look really nice on this figure, paired with a loose baggy top to go with this style of skirt. Skater style skirts and maxi skirts also work well with this figure. Denim shorts or high waisted shorts would also work great.

Tops: Loose and baggy tops over trousers, jeans, skirts or shorts is a great look for a Straight figure but straight fitting style blouses and t-shirts makes the straight shape of the body more defined.

Inverted Triangle Body Shape

Afterglow Denim shorts from French Connection. Styled by Sabrina Woolley for stylingup.com.

Dresses: T-shirt style dresses are the perfect dress for you. This style of dress helps keep your shoulders and broad back a slim look. Maxi style dresses do not help your body figure as your shoulders are too broad for this style of dress so look at more long sleeve and short sleeve dresses to help slim your broad shoulders to give a slim effect on your figure.

Shorts and Skirts: Tight skirts can work for this body shape. As your legs and bum are not as wide as your top half this can help pull off this style. A maxi or midi skirt would also work with this style as this will also show off your best asset, your legs. A variety of different shorts can be worn with this style but for Summer the patterned and denim shorts would go best with this figure.

Tops: As an Inverted Triangle has broad shoulders and back, tops can be difficult to make sure that they are suitable for this style. As I previously said in the dresses section, long or short sleeve t-shirts or tops are best for this style. Tank tops, vest tops or string vest tops will not work with this figure, but if you do decided on a tank top or vest top maybe added a cardigan or blazer to help slim down your shoulders but also be able to feel summery.

Oval Body Shape

V-Neck dress from French Connection. Styled by Sabrina Woolley for stylingup.com.

Dresses: Skater style dresses help to hide the lumps and bumps with the flow of the skirt and a loose top for the bust. This will help to disguise your figure in a flattering style so that you are much more comfortable when heading out and about for the weekend. This dress also shows off your legs which is your best asset.

Shorts and Skirts: Skater style skirts are a great style for this figure. This helps to flatter your body and also show off your legs which are your best asset. For shorts, Oval shape can wear denim shorts, patterned shorts and also flappy shorts as this will help to compliment your shape with the right top.

Tops: For Oval shapes, loose and baggy tops are a better look as this will help cover any lumps and bumps that you are not happy with but also make you feel comfortable with the way you look. Oval can also wear loose fitting blouses that can be worn over jeans or shorts.  Tank tops, sleeveless blouses and t-shirts could all work for Oval and can be worn with loose fitting jumpers or with tailored blazers for the evening in summer.

Stylist tips: Essentials to Pack for a Holiday

Are you guilty of packing five of everything when you go on holiday..and then wearing the same pair of shorts and flip flops every day? That makes about a million of us.

To try and avoid this, I’ve put together a list of staple pieces to get you through any beach holiday in style.. and hopefully leave room in your case to bring back all the inevitable purchases of shell bracelets and sarongs!

For Day

Stylist: Ria Johnson. View image and links on polyvore

1. You’ll probably be spending a lot of time in your bikini, so it’s important to take some that fit and flatter you and make you feel comfortable. The polka dot one (Topshop) is classic and feminine, and the ruffles help to flatter hips. The red ruffled one (River Island) is more of a statement and is great for boosting small busts.

2. A kimono is great for covering up your bikini during the day, choose one that sits mid thigh to make you feel covered up enough for when you go for lunch. (River Island)

3. Denim shorts are a key piece for beach holidays, you can slip them over a bikini for day and combine them with a vest for any activities you do. (Topshop)

4. Plain tops are incredibly useful, wear them with your denim shorts during the day and you can also add some glamour by mixing them with jewellery and more statement pieces in the evening. (Boohoo)

5. A good day bag should hold the essentials and ideally be able to click shut, to stop pesky fingers from slipping in unnoticed. (H&M)

6. Retro and statement sunglasses are going to be huge this summer, choose cat-eye shapes or go all out with embellished frames. (River Island)

For Evening

Stylist: Ria Johnson. View image and links on polyvore

1. Bracelets in neutral colours that you can stack and mix-and-match are a great way of changing up your evening look without having to pack a lot of jewellery. (All Topshop)

2. Take a glamorous evening dress that shows off your tan and makes you feel summery. Be bold and pick one in a bright colour or pattern. (Styling Up)

3. A statement necklace is great for layering over your plainer tops or dresses to make you look more dressed up. (Topshop)

4. Let’s be honest, no one really wears high heels on holiday, so take some mid-height, neutral wedges that go with all of your evening items and are easy and comfortable to walk in. (Dorothy Perkins)

5. Take a few luxe vests and strappy tops for evening, you can combine them with just about any bottoms you’ve brought to create a variety of mix and match looks. Good details to look for are embellishments, sequins and statement prints. (Topshop)

6. A sparkly evening clutch will make any look glamorous, even if paired with denim shorts and a pretty vest. (Miss Selfridge)

7. Nothing says holiday like a maxi dress, so get one you love. They’re great for the first few evenings of holiday, when you want to look summer and dress comfortably, but your legs haven’t really picked up a tan yet. (Dorothy Perkins)

Mix and Match

Stylist: Ria Johnson. View image and links on polyvore

These are the hero items that will take you effortlessly from beach-to-dinner-to-bar.

1. An amazing swimsuit will work for day, and also as a top when worn under your denim shorts or skirts. (H&M)

2. Statement, silky joggers can be worn with sandals for day, then glammed up with some wedges when the sun goes down. (Dorothy Perkins)

3. A white shirt is a great basic item for holidays. It can be worn open to cover up your bikini during the day, or with any shorts or skirts. (H&M)

4. A cover-up that’s a proper dress is great, you can wear it over a bikini while you’re out during the day and then you’re ready for the beach later. Add your wedges and it’s also great for evening. (Topshop)

5. A statement skirt should ideally go with all of your tops, so that you can wear it day or night. Go for a pattern with a lot of different colours (like floral patterns) to give it a greater range of potential matches. (Topshop)

6. A sparkly crop top is great for evening (with your statement skirt) or good for glamming up a day outfit, by pairing it with denim shorts.(Topshop)

7. A pair of not-so-plain sandals. I know you’ll probably still wear flip-flops every day, but a pretty pair of sandals are easy to wear during the day and are dressed up enough for evening. (Topshop)
Hopefully these pieces will see you through your holiday easily, and leave you only worrying about what cocktail flavour to try next! It’s very eighties..but I’d recommend a Pina Colada. Happy Holidays!

Brazilian Hair Extensions: The Next Big Thing?

Photo by John Kannenberg - FlickR
If like many people short, fine hair is the bane of your life, you may be considering getting hair extensions fitted.  Hair extensions allow everyone to have the long, thick glamorous hair that they dream of.  You may have heard lots of people shouting about Brazilian hair extensions recently, especially in the celeb world.  But why are they a good option? What makes them better quality than other types of hair extensions?

Why use hair extensions?

Very few of us are lucky enough to have naturally lustrous, thick, shiny hair.  Even most of the celebs we see with immaculate hair are faking it.  Hair extensions are becoming more and more popular with celebrities with Kim Kardashian, Alesha Dixon, Cheryl Cole, Tyra Banks, Beyonce, Nadine Coyle from Girls Aloud, Una Healy from the Saturdays, Alexandra Burke and many more all openly admitting to enjoying the benefits of hair extensions.  With so many different options available on the market and every one of them claiming to be the best that there is, it’s difficult to know what the best option really is.

Why Brazilian?

Brazilian hair extensions used to primarily be a secret of the celebs, but now they are widely available to everyone.   Hair extensions made from real, natural, high quality hair rather than synthetic hair have a lot of advantages over synthetic hair extensions.  Synthetic hair extensions do not have a very long life as they are sensitive to the sun and styling and don’t blend in well like natural hair.  Real hair extensions can be treated like your own hair and dyed, styled and washed in the same way.

Brazilian hair extensions are made from real hair that has been sourced from people in Brazil.  Good quality Brazilian hair extensions are usually referred to as being virgin.  This means that the hair is 100% natural and has never been treated, dyed or bleached before.  Brazilian hair extensions are normally made from Remy hair as well.  Remy hair refers to the way in which the hair has been collected.  Remy hair is collected carefully to preserve the hair’s cuticle and with all of the hair cuticles facing in the same direction.  This means the hair is completely natural in appearance and will remain soft, shiny and tangle-free.

Brazilian hair extensions have been gaining popularity recently with more and more people swearing by this high quality type of hair extension.  Brazilian hair extensions can be expensive but this is because of their natural look and strong, full-bodied, durable texture.  The high quality of the product means that they will last for between 8 months and 2 years, so they can be refitted over and over again.  They are available in curly, wavy or straight and their strength makes them ideal for colouring.

How are they fitted?

There are a number of ways that you can choose to get your hair extensions fitted.  The one that is kindest to your hair is the micro-ring method.  The micro ring does not use glue or wax to attach the hair extensions; instead they are clipped into tiny rings that are secured at the root of your natural hair.

Pre-bonded hair extensions glue onto your existing hair.  They are pre-tipped with keratin wax which is heated and bonded to natural hair, this method is very flexible as it allows for extensions to be placed at any point in your hair, including your fringe.  The pre-bonded option also allows for very natural movement of hair.

The micro ring weft (weave) does not use glue or wax either.  The micro ring weft uses a long weft of hair that is then fitted to your head using micro rings.  This is a good low commitment option for people who do not want to wear the extensions for a very long length of time.  Generally a weft needs to be refitted every month or so and will last for up to 8 months.  It’s a great option if you want to add volume to your hair.

Brazilian hair extensions are on the rise, and with their natural appearance and texture and ease to maintain it’s hardly surprising.  With the endorsement of so many well-known celebrities you know you must be onto a good thing!  With Brazilian hair extensions the celebrity hair secret is out, now everyone can have the thick, glossy hair that they dream of.

5 Ugliest Jewelry Pieces in Awards Show History

When it comes to jewelry, celebrities always get special treatment on the red carpet. They can borrow, beg, or buy jewelry pieces from the world's hottest designers to make their own unique fashion statements. Unfortunately, there are the select few celebs who must make these choices with their eyes closed or succumb to designers who want to make them look bad. Viewing awards shows has become like watching a circus, because while many celebs show up looking their very best, others just look like clowns. Here are the 5 ugliest jewelry pieces in the history of awards shows:

#5 Gwyneth Paltrow's Chandelier Earrings

Gwyneth Paltrow is an actress who always wears awesome dresses, but became more famous for her chandelier earrings at the 2007 Academy Awards. At parties, people have been known to get drunk and hang from chandeliers, but hanging chandeliers from a woman is an even more painful and embarrassing sight.
Gwyneth’s earrings in this case had more diamonds than all of South America put together, proving once and for all that you can in fact have too much of a good thing. They were so big and hung so low from golden chains that she could have tripped over them. As diamonds go, the stones were pretty, but these chandelier earrings should have just gone down the red carpet themselves because they had a life of their own.

# 4 Sandra Bullock's Ring at the 2012 Academy Awards

This ring was quite large and looked as though a metallurgist spilled hot gold all over her finger and just before it cooled, he threw some precious gems on top of it. Imagine that after the ring hardened and Sandra got back from the hospital to have it surgically removed, she waited for the skin grafts to heal before she put the ring on again. It is easy to visualize a major law suit where the ring maker lost his house. Sandra put the ring on anyways and arrived at the award show. Of course she looked beautiful, but that ugly ring drew enough attention to make this list.

#3 Tyga's Last Kings Chain

This necklace was quite impressive in making Tyga look like a Pharaoh from ancient Egypt. It was designed by Jason of Beverly Hills because all the other designers were not strong enough to keep from being turned to stone by the necklace's presumably evil powers.
Tyga's idea to wear this at the 2012 BET Awards was a good one until all the other rappers saw it and wanted one just like it. It had so much gold in it that Fort Knox itself is probably jealous, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, until you see the design itself. The ugly necklace had scary faces on it and made Tyga's weight jump up to 250 pounds. It was gaudy and heavy.

#2 Missy Piggy's Hideous Necklace

As far as puppets go, Miss Piggy is probably the world's most famous fashionista, but even she is not immune to fashion disaster. She recently wore a big old diamond necklace. The Bible says never throw your pearls before swine. In this case designer Fred Leighton did not use pearls, but he should have applied the concept to diamonds. The necklace was quite large and ugly. The multiple diamonds on this beast (the necklace, not the Muppet) blinded Piggy's counterpart Kermit the Frog as well as all the others standing on the red carpet at the 2012 Academy Awards.
Why should designers even put real jewels on a bunch of sewn together fabric? Why is a Muppet even at an awards show? The necklace had a interesting infinity symbol and lots of diamonds. It surely weighed more than the pig. The real star wearing it was the guy you never see; Eric Jacobson was the puppeteer who handled her. He probably never held that much value in his arms before or since.

#1 Flavor Flav's Clock at the 2006 Billboard Music Awards

Flavor Flav has long been associated with the '80s hip-hop trend of wearing a clock around your neck, because he was one of the artists who popularized it. However, even the master of neck clocks himself can go too far sometimes! It would have been impossible for Flav to be late for his red carpet arrival at the 2006 Billboard Music Awards because the ugly necklace he had on was quite possibly the biggest clock ever. Big Ben in England was weeping and the Hubble telescope was taking this photo from space, even though an astronaut could have seen this silver and black clock with the naked eye.
